When we were shopping for laundry pairs before, the only features we cared for was that it be front loading and had a nice electronic panel. The one thing we did want though, were laundry pedestals, so we could do our laundry standing up. However, if you've ever gone to check them out, they're easily $200 bux a pop and we certainly were not about to spend $500 on two metal boxes! So guess what? Kel's built a platform that does the exact same thing. Of course, it doesn't look as nice, but it serves the same purpose. We haven't picked out a finishing for it yet, so if anyone's got a good idea, feel free to share!
Another addition we've had to the house was my Snoopy toaster oven! Erica got it for me a couple years ago, and it's been in storage since I graduated and moved back home with my parents. Don't underestimate the power of this little oven, it pretty much delivers instant toast! The first time Kel tried it, he popped his bread in and thought he had time to pour himself a glass of milk. When he turned around, it was already smoking in the oven! LoL
And tonight, Kel finally got to painting the doors! We purchased the paint two weeks ago, but he hasn't had time til now. I've had this idea for a while, and was confirmed with results from another blog. Coincidentally enough, it was another "Kelly"! Kelly James, to be exact from design-ties. :) Below, you can see the before and after pictures of our doors!
And by popular request... Apparently the previous picture of Eeyore with the Dyson was not enough to show his relative size. I've been requested to take a picture WITH Eeyore to show that he really is 5 feet tall!
Details details... Its slowly coming together!
Yes, I must admit, after Kel's moved in, we've slacked on the blog. Or should I say I've slacked on the blog. :) Since my last blog, we've lost connection to "Joe's Home" internet. It seems like he's been having issues with his router. I've told Kel to just go knock on his door and offer his assistance. I mean, it's the least we could do for Joe, no? Between that, and we've got nothing to lose! Anyhow, we didn't end up doing any of that. Instead, Kel's been diligently finishing up minor details around the house. (The optimistic side is that, without access to the Internet and no TV, all his "home time" translates into "housework time". Yayy for me!) So the past little while, he's managed to:
On the right is the side of the kitchen island I haven't taken before. You can see the silver outlet plate and air register Kel's refitted. As well, the trim on the floor he's stained and varnished to match the hardwood.
Oh, and I must say, we've put our little Dyson to good use! I just love how small and lightweight, yet powerful it is! Also to fill our void of furniture, we've got Eeyore in the house! You can see his relative size to our Dyson. He's 60" tall and 36" wide! (Kel spent all night pumping him up with a faulty foot pump.)
- - stain and fit the trims transitioning from hardwood to tile,
- - build a platform for the laundry pair,
- - refit some of the outlet plating,
- - install the racks in the linen closet,
- - install poles in the walk in closet,
- - and of course, research our Internet options, lay the wiring, and get the guy in to install the modem.
